As the practice begins a new chapter, we are delighted to introduce Dr. Joon Woo Sohn, who brings his passion for personalized, patient-focused dental care to every visit. Dr. Sohn is dedicated to upholding the same trusted values and commitment to excellence that patients have come to expect from JW Dentistry. His goal is to ensure every patient feels comfortable, understood, and confident in their care.
About Dr. Sohn
Dr. Joon Woo Sohn was born and raised in Korea before moving to the United States at the age of 17. He spent his formative years in Ventura County, California, where he earned his degree from California State University, Channel Islands. With a strong passion for dentistry, Dr. Sohn worked as a dental assistant for three years before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health in Mesa.
After graduation, Dr. Sohn began his dental career in Austin, Texas, where he also became engaged to his best friend, Carissa. Eventually, he returned to Southern California to be closer to family and start a new chapter in his professional journey.
Dedicated to providing the best care possible, Dr. Sohn completes over 100 hours of continuing education each year, constantly learning the latest advancements in dental technology and treatment techniques. His commitment to lifelong learning ensures that every patient benefits from modern, evidence-based dentistry.
Outside of the office, Dr. Sohn enjoys hiking with his dog, Dash, staying active at the gym, and cheering on his favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers. He and his wife, Carissa, are also excited to welcome a baby boy — a joyful new addition to their growing family.

As I move toward retirement, I could not be more confident in Dr. Sohn’s philosophy of providing the same comfortable, personalized, and high-quality dental care that you have always experienced when visiting our office. When I first met Dr. Sohn, I was extremely impressed by his professionalism, kind nature, and passion for dentistry. I know he will continue to provide the level of care you deserve, bringing advanced clinical training in extractions, root canal therapy, and dental implants.
On a personal note, Dr. Sohn and his fiancée, Carissa, recently returned to Southern California after spending time in Arizona and Texas. Both are happy to be closer to their families and friends. Dr. Sohn enjoys hiking with his dog and is an enthusiastic Lakers fan.
As I retire after 44 fulfilling years in dentistry, I look back with gratitude at the generations of wonderful patients I have had the privilege to serve. Thank you for your trust, friendship, and loyalty over the years. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Sohn to JW Dentistry.
